The first bonito of 2026 has been landed!
On Thursday, May 28th, the first bonito of the season was landed in Kesennuma! The first catch of the season is said to be very auspicious. The port town is bustling with activity following the news of the first bonito catch! For many years, Kesennuma has boasted the largest volume of fresh bonito landings in Japan, but last year it unfortunately lost that title. This year, it aims to "reclaim the title of Japan's No. 5".
