[Notice] Beware of bears! Information on sightings and what to do

Miyagi Prefecture has received numerous reports of Asiatic black bear sightings and tracks, and to ensure the safety of those planning to visit or enjoy leisure activities, as well as those living in the area, a "Bear Sighting Information Map (Google Map)" has been released, visualizing the latest sightings.

Please use this map as a preliminary check when planning sightseeing routes and walking tours in Kesennuma city and the surrounding area.

This map uses the following legend:
Blue marks: sighting locations
Orange marks: Locations where traces were found (footprints, droppings, feeding marks, etc.)
Red mark: Location where personal injury occurred

Please note that areas where there have been no sightings do not guarantee that there are no bears, so please be careful when entering forests and natural areas.
