November 5th is World Tsunami Awareness Day
Throughout the month, we will be holding events to teach about disaster prevention and mitigation, with a focus on tsunami disasters.
In addition to the special project "That Day in Kesennuma's Shikaori District," there are other activities that will help you improve your disaster prevention capabilities, such as walking tours of the town and a fire department festival.

- 1. Special Exhibition "That Day in the Shishiori District of Kesennuma"
- Tohoku University International Research Institute of Disaster Science Collaborative Project

Contents: 1. Evacuation experience using walking VR 2. Diorama of the Shishiori area before the earthquake and Kyotokumaru exhibit

- Date and time: November 1st (Sat) - November 11th (Tue) 9:30 - 16:00
Earthquake and tsunami quizzes will be set up at five locations in the Namijo district, which was severely damaged by the earthquake (Jifukuji Temple, Suginoshita Memorial Monument, Asahizaki, Iwaizaki, and Kotohira Shrine).
If you visit all five locations, you will receive original merchandise from the Folk Museum.
*Quiz forms are available at the entrance to the Folklore Museum.
*Please submit this to the reception desk after the event. - 3. Hajikami Mystery Solving Tour ~Storytelling Day~
- Date and time: October 3th (Monday/holiday) 11:30-12:30
A special edition where you can listen to the storyteller's tale.
A complimentary bowl of saury meatball soup is also included.
Capacity: First 30 people / Participation fee: 300 yen (admission fee + 100 yen)
Flow: ① Check-in at the Folk Museum → ② Storytelling at the Suginoshita Memorial Monument (10:00-13:00) → ③ Treat yourself at the Folk Museum (11:00-14:00) - 4. Everyone is a storyteller

Young members, mainly middle and high school students, will guide visitors through the earthquake ruins.

You can interact with storytellers and local people over tea. - 6. Measles Campaign
- Kesennuma City Tourism Association Hashikami Branch Collaborative Project
Period: November 15th (Saturday) to January 31st, 2020 (Saturday)
If you collect stickers by shopping or eating at participating stores in the Hashikami area, you will be entered to win luxurious prizes. - 7. Parent-Child Fire and Disaster Prevention Festival 2025
- Collaborative project with Kesennuma Fire Department

Contents: First aid, firefighting and water spraying training, ladder truck riding experience, etc.

We hold candy throwing events and fairs in conjunction with local festivals.
