Kesennuma, the "town of bonito," boasts the highest fresh bonito catch in Japan for 28 consecutive years, and people enjoy the different flavors of bonito that change with the seasons, from the refreshing "first bonito" landed in early summer to the "returning bonito" that gradually gains fat and is at its peak in autumn. The Kesennuma Bonito Festival will be held in this "town of bonito" from July 7st (Tuesday) to July 1st (Thursday).
