Kesennuma Fish Market is a facility established by Kesennuma City and run by the Kesennuma Fisheries Cooperative Association.
Kesennuma Fish Market, located in Kesennuma Fishing Port, a designated third-class fishing port of which there are 13 in Japan, receives large amounts of seasonal seafood every day from the fishing grounds off the coast of Sanriku, one of the world's three largest fishing grounds. The port is not only used for coastal fishing, but is also the home port for deep-sea fishing boats, and boasts some of the largest catches of bonito, pacific saury, swordfish, and shark in the country.
