A gathering of unique shops! Lots of fun!

Mishione Alley

Mishione Yokocho is a collection of trailer house-style shops in an alleyway that is home to a collection of unique shops that can only be found here in Kesennuma.
The restaurant is located right next to the Kesennuma City Fish Market, which is said to be the face of Kesennuma, and next to the tourist commercial facility, Kesennuma Sea Market. There are many hotels around Kesennuma Port, so it is conveniently located for tourists who want to take a break after a morning visit to the fish market, after buying souvenirs, when they want to eat near the hotel, or when they want to have a drink before heading back to the hotel.

The trailer-style stores include a restaurant, a public bath, a bar, Mexican, Okinawan, and Indonesian cuisine, a ramen shop, and a mushola (a place for Muslim prayers). It's difficult to describe this alley in a few words, but if I had to say, the themes of this place could be described as "fishermen" and "the bustle of a port town."

There are also regular events such as the Kesennuma Minato Marche and the Yarukka Night, where you can drink alcohol, as well as a variety of sauna events. Mishione Yokocho is full of fun, so why not visit anytime, morning, noon, or night?

Open from the morning! A public bath and a restaurant serving food delivered directly from fishermen

▲There is even a Shinto altar above the men's bath at "Tsurukame-no-Yu"!

Inside this "trailer house"-style store is a public bathhouse called "Tsurukame no Yu"! In the past, there was a public bathhouse called "Kame no Yu" near the inner bay of Kesennuma that served as a place of relaxation for fishermen.

However, Kame no Yu was damaged in the earthquake disaster, and although it continued to operate for a while afterwards, it was forced to close down. That's when local housewives stepped up to help. They raised funds through crowdfunding and other methods, took the character "turtle" from Kame no Yu's name and named it "Tsurukame no Yu," and opened this new public bath.

There is also a Shinto altar in the men's bath, where fishermen pray for a good catch and safe voyages.
Anyone other than fishermen can also use the baths, so please come along.

▲A luxurious breakfast with a set meal and sashimi delivered straight from the fishermen.

Tsurukame Shokudo, which also operates as the counter here, serves dishes such as stewed swordfish collar, stewed offal, curry, and, if you're lucky, even super fresh sashimi that's "delivered directly to the restaurant by fishermen."

The market is open from 7am to accommodate the fishermen, so tourists who come to visit the fish market early in the morning can also have breakfast here!

It's open until 13pm, so it's perfect for lunchtime.

You can also eat Indonesian cuisine, which has a deep connection to Kesennuma!

▲Is nasi goreng a comforting taste for Indonesian fishermen?

Also located in Mishione Yokocho is the city's first Indonesian restaurant, Warung Mahal.

In fact, Kesennuma has had deep ties with Indonesia for a long time, with many Indonesian sailors working there and many people living in Kesennuma.

This restaurant does not use pork in any of its dishes and uses halal-certified ingredients, making it a great place for the Muslim Indonesian people. The menu includes popular dishes in Japan such as "nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice)" and "mie goreng (Indonesian fried noodles)," as well as Indonesian a la carte dishes and desserts.

And opposite the shop is a small Islamic mushola (prayer house).
This is the only place in Kesennuma that has Mushola.

You may not have many contacts with Indonesians in your daily life or as a tourist, but if you come here, you will feel that Kesennuma is supported by the Indonesian people! Teri Makasi!

The port town's meat dishes are wild! Mexican food and tequila too!

Mexican food and tequila also available.

▲We respond to those "I want to eat meat!" feelings.

When you think of port towns, fish dishes are the main focus, but after enjoying a delicious fish dish, isn't it also meat dish that you crave?

Cheers is a Mexican restaurant that offers a wide variety of meat dishes, including spare ribs and steaks.

The spare ribs and T-bone steaks, made by the master who founded the Kesennuma BBQ Association, are dishes that really bring out the deliciousness of meat.
Also, when it comes to Mexican food, the classics like tacos and nachos come to mind, and pouring a shot of tequila over them will leave you feeling great and satisfied in both your stomach and your heart.

By the way, the master is also a tequila maestro of the Tequila Association!
You can ask the bartender to recommend a tequila for you, and for those who don't like alcohol, there are also non-alcoholic drinks available. This is also a great place to stop by for a second drink.

Okinawan cuisine for lunch or dinner!

Will it blow away the cold of Kesennuma?

▲The warm "Soki soba" with bonito broth is also good after drinking.

"TEN(T)" is open for lunch and dinner, and serves up soki soba noodles made with bonito flakes from Kesennuma for lunch, and classic Okinawan dishes such as sea grapes, mimiga, homemade jimami tofu, and goyachampuuru in the evening, all paired with awamori or Orion beer.

This is a new restaurant opened by the owner, who is originally from Kesennuma and used to work at an Okinawan restaurant, when Mishione Yokocho opened. By the way, there is only one other Okinawan restaurant in Kesennuma city.

Since many people in Kesennuma are not very familiar with Okinawan cuisine, the restaurant adjusts the flavors of Okinawa's unique ingredients to suit the tastes of Kesennuma residents. During oyster season, they also serve oyster soba noodles made with oysters from Kesennuma. All of the dishes here are delicious, so the soki soba noodles are recommended for lunch, as well as dinner.

The elegant and refreshing pork bone soup is popular!

Satisfy your stomach and your heart with toppings and extra noodles

▲The Tonkotsu Soy Sauce Kuro is characterized by its pitch black soup, which has a refined and rich flavor.

This popular restaurant serves pork bone ramen, which is rare in Kesennuma. The menu includes "Porn Bone Soy Sauce Kuro," "Ie," "Numa," and "AKA."
Tonkotsu Shoyu Kuro's noodles can be chosen from "Mohaya, Very Hard, Hard, and Regular," and are served with pickled ginger and chopped takana on a separate plate. The soup, which contains chili oil, is dark and impressive, but it has a refined and rich flavor without any bitterness or peculiar taste. The thinly sliced roast pork topping is also moist and soft, and goes well with the ramen.
This tonkotsu ramen is easy for anyone to eat, so once you've finished it, we recommend ordering a refill.

▲A voluminous "swamp"

"Ie" is a type of ramen with medium-thick noodles, made with pork bones and cheese oil, and topped with roasted pork and spinach.
And! Our top recommendation, "Numa," is a dish that could be described as a Kesennuma version of "Iekei." It's a pork bone-based ramen with dried bonito flakes and seafood oil made from dried mackerel, topped with nori seaweed. Pickled plums add an accent. It's also topped with rare roast pork, making it a very filling dish.
