Kesennuma is the setting for the TV drama series "Okaeri Mone." I want to experience the atmosphere of the drama in the setting! I want to go, but where should I head first? If so, why not head here first?

If you are coming from Sendai, the Otani Kaigan Roadside Station is convenient; if you are coming from Ichinoseki, Naiwan or Kesennuma Umi no Ichi are convenient; if you are heading directly to Oshima, the Kesennuma Oshima Welcome Terminal is convenient.

Kesennuma City Tourist Service Center (inside Kesennuma "Sea Market")

The Kesennuma Tourist Service Center is located inside Kesennuma Sea Market, a tourist and product facility adjacent to the Kesennuma Fish Market that sells all the seafood from Sanriku. In addition to tourist information, the center also provides pamphlets related to the drama, a tour map that can be created by everyone, a message board, and more, making it a convenient place to gather information.

In addition, the Memorial Exhibition "Kesennuma, the setting of Okaeri Mone" is being held at Umi-ICHI Hoya Boya Hall on the second floor of Umi-Ichi! The venue is filled with props actually used in the filming and the scenery of Kesennuma depicted in the drama, and you can take photos in each corner that make you feel like you are in the world of the drama. Various photo spots will be set up, including a weather corner, but there is also a spot that recreates the departure scene of "Ryo-chin"! You can immerse yourself in the world of the drama by actually wearing the "Tairyo Kankizuna" with the same pattern and taking photos as if you are on a ship. Admission is free. The exhibition will run from Friday, March 2, 2023 to Wednesday, February 3, 10.

On the first floor of Kesennuma "Umi no Ichi" there are stores selling souvenirs and goods featuring Kesennuma City's tourism mascot "Hoya Boya the Sea Child", as well as shops and restaurants selling seafood caught at Kesennuma Port and processed seafood products made from them.

You can enjoy the "Ice Aquarium" where you can experience an icy world of -20℃, as well as the tourist service center and Japan's only shark museum, the "Shark Museum," on the second floor.

Otani Coast Roadside Station Tourist Information Corner

The tourist information corner at the Otani Kaigan roadside station, which just opened in March this year, offers not only tourist information, but also pamphlets related to the drama, a tour map that everyone can make, and a message board. In addition, a large LCD panel on the wall shows footage of Kesennuma's rich nature and town. Please feel free to stop by.

The high-ceilinged, spacious store is lined with souvenirs that Kesennuma is proud of, as well as fresh vegetables and seafood, and products made using Kesennuma's seafood. There are also limited-edition products that can only be purchased here, such as products featuring the sunfish, the symbol of Oya Coast, in their designs.

In the dining area, you can enjoy dishes including fresh local seafood, and there is also a cafe serving coffee, soft serve ice cream, and easy snack foods such as shark cutlet burgers.

The outdoor deck on the second floor is equipped with tables and chairs, making it a great place to take a break from driving and enjoy a snack while gazing at the ocean.

Drive across the sea to Oshima

Kesennuma Oshima, a lush island floating in Kesennuma Bay, is known for its beautiful scenery, which has led poets to praise it as a "green pearl."
The Kesennuma Oshima Welcome Terminal, located in Uranohama Bay, the gateway to Kesennuma Oshima, is a direct sales store selling seasonal seafood and agricultural products. Here you can find tourist information, as well as pamphlets related to the drama, a tour map that everyone can create, and a message board.
Next to it is a private commercial facility called "Nomori Sea"there is.

It also has terrace seating where you can relax while looking out at Uranohama Bay, so it's a great place to spend some relaxing time on the island.

The direct sales store is lined with products that would make great souvenirs, such as fish, vegetables, Oshima's specialties such as yuzu and camellia, and processed products made with oysters.
