The expedition team is on the move! Searching for the town's "Seven Colors"

Colorful sandals that are perfect for a port town!

In this corner, an explorer team living in Kesennuma heads out into the town in search of all sorts of things related to the seven colors.

Our destination this time is Saishin Sakanai Fish Market Front Store, which sells a wide range of products, including professional fishing-related products, daily necessities, food, clothing, and alcohol. It is also known as the "fisherman's convenience store"!

It's non-slip, easy to wear, and easy to wash!

Sake no Saishin is located right in front of Kesennuma Fish Market. Fishermen who come into Kesennuma often come here to shop. I heard that this store has "nanairo" sandals, so I went there right away!

I looked around the store. It seemed the footwear section was towards the back of the store. Overwhelmed by the number of items, I explored the store.

Explorer: Ah, there it is!

The product name is written as "Gyosan". The "gyo" (fish) in the name reminds me of Sakana-kun's "Gyogyo!", but the sandals are exactly what fishermen wear, so they are called Gyosan! They come in a variety of colors, from pop to subdued colors that are easy for men to wear.

This has a matte texture.

If you look closely, you'll see that the thong and sole are one piece, making them extremely durable! They're also designed to be worn in places where water is used, so they're not slippery. The material repels water, so they can be washed quickly if they get dirty. These sandals are truly perfect for life in a port town! They cost less than 1,000 yen, so they make a great little souvenir.

Wear your favorite colored Gyosan and stroll around the fishing port or along the beach. You might even meet a fisherman wearing the same Gyosan. Why not try finding your favorite pair?

By the way, I found a very flashy monpe during my exploration. It has a design of the "tairyo-bata" (large fishing flag) that is hoisted on boats, which is typical of Kesennuma. It's a piece that I would like to try coordinating with gyosan sandals! And the types of instant noodles sold at Saishin are from all over the country. It is said that about 1% of the fishing boats that dock in Kesennuma are from outside the prefecture. Maybe they are reminded of the tastes of home while on the boat.

If you visit Kesennuma, be sure to drop by Saishin, the fisherman's convenience store, which is definitely worth exploring.
