On Mondays, we'll be talking about Monet together! Last week, we reached a turning point in the Tome and Kesennuma scenes. Part 1 is complete! I think that's how it feels. Recently, I've been talking about Monet with people I met in Kesennuma, and it's fun to be able to talk about it with people I've never met before, regardless of age or gender! If you see me, please bring up the topic of Monet.

And in this letter corner, let's continue talking about what happened last week!

This issue's letter

It was a week in which the story sunk into our hearts. Sayaka's 1-year-old Japanese cypress tree was cut down, but the chief priest of the shrine that protects the land of Beima, moved by Monet's words, agreed to keep it for 300 years. I think the spirit of the Japanese cypress tree, along with Sayaka's thoughts, will reside in the shrine. Monet returned to her parents' home in Kamejima, and after gathering up the courage to speak to her family face to face, she will leave Kamejima "After the Rain, Departure". I want all of us to lift her up in the air and send her off to Tokyo. (Umakkoyama)

The departure scene was also very good. I felt like everyone's feelings were conveyed. The people in this drama are all good people. You can feel their kindness. And Makkoyama-san calls Mone-san with the honorific "san". I feel the kindness of the characters in "Welcome Back Mone". I also like the "lift me up" scene.

Although the characters are different, my name is Ayako. Every morning, I get excited when the wonderful actors call my name (lol) (I'm glad my name is Ayako ☆)

Wow, that's the best... The scene where Shinji-san calls "Ayako-san" is memorable. In other words... Tadanobu Asano calls you by your name? I'm so jealous! Also, I'm happy to receive comments like this!

I thought to myself that I won't cry anymore this week (week 8 was tear-jerking every day), but it's the third day of week 9, and every day I tear up at the thought of depicting a farewell. Among those, the plot twist I'd like to see resolved is Suganami-sensei's spatial recognition ability. Up until now, he hasn't been able to catch vegetables many times, but in the future, I'd like him to be able to catch Monet's feelings, along with her body. I imagine Suganami-sensei saying, "It looks like we can solve your spatial recognition problem" after embracing her. Well then. That's all for today... (Michael J. Kanematsu)

Michael J. Kanematsu? You're starting to fantasize... I get it. Yes, I get it. I do fantasize. But, um, catching Monet's thoughts "with her whole body"... isn't that a bit too Jackie Chan-esque? Rush Hour. And then Suganami-sensei catches the diving Monet and says with a smug look on his face, "It looks like we can solve the problem of spatial recognition ability"? And where does Monet come from anyway?! lol
Oh man, this fantasy is the best.

The painful feelings of Ryo-chin and Shinji, who cannot bring themselves to hate the sea that swept away their mother, are conveyed in the song. The lyrics of the theme song also seem to express the conflict and pain of the Oikawa family, who lost their mother in the earthquake disaster. "We suffered through losing our mother in the Great East Japan Earthquake, but we believe we are moving forward," and "We can never go back. The day when our mother was with us shone like a rainbow." Thank you, Saku-san! Last Friday's episode ended with the theme song "Nanairo" playing, and I was thinking how fitting the lyrics were.
(Because of the lyrics quote, Saku-san said, "The lyrics of the theme song also seem to express the conflict and suffering of the Oikawa family, who lost their mother in the earthquake disaster." However, we are unable to include the relevant part of the lyrics on this page... sorry!)
As Saku-san said, "Nanairo" fits Ryo-chin perfectly, and I feel like it also fits Monet and Koji-san. I can picture the faces of each character in the song. Please read the lyrics again carefully!

Such a sweet girl will hook up with someone else as soon as she goes to Tokyo. Is that okay, Professor Suganami? Or rather, does Monet have no interest in Professor Suganami at all? Eh? What's going on? I'm sure that's what everyone watching and the uncles and aunties of Yonema Town are thinking. lol (Mayuko Nagoya)

That's great! I thought the same! Mayuko Nagoya, I remember you once wrote to these two saying, "Let's go out together!" I'd like to join the Tome uncle and aunt team and say, "Are you two making no progress at all?" Mayuko Nagoya, please join us in that circle.

▲Keep an eye on Professor Suganami

Watching today's episode of Monet, I re-watched the first episode. Monet is timid when interacting with people. He joins the forestry association but can't get into it. He has an awkward relationship with Dr. Suganuma at the clinic. He wants to help people but doesn't know how. But through various opportunities, he finds what he needs to do, gains the confidence to do it, and the people around him start to change (especially Dr. Suganuma). And then he sets off for Tokyo to do what he needs to do. Just like Dr. Daikichi, "I thought today was the last episode." (wry smile) But now is just the starting line. (Yoshinobu)

Compared to the first episode... Monet has certainly changed! Suganami-sensei has also changed a lot. The first part was also a story of the growth of the two. I also felt like it was the final episode at the end of last week. But I'm grateful that the story continues from here. I started watching it again today with a fresh feeling, as if I was watching season 2.

After the Miyagi arc, Monet went to Tokyo, but will she return to Tome or Kesennuma in the end? Or will she become part of Tokyo? It might be fun to guess. Also, I was wondering, Koji went to Tome where Monet is, but will he go to the company in Tokyo? I wonder what will happen when he goes there and meets Asaoka... (Hachibei)

Eh? A guess? I'll give "Return to Kesennuma" 3000 points. Because it's "Welcome back, Mone," I think she'll at least come back to Tome or Kesennuma.……But it's okay if you live in Tome, or if you don't come back. I want to be a parent who can say, "Live your life the way you want!" Also, if Koji meets Asaoka, he won't be able to show his face as "Mone's father." The two of them are cohabitation partners to begin with, so it's like Kenji and Shiro are asking, "What did you eat yesterday?"
