Let's talk about "Welcome Back Mone" together! 15th

Letters Corner 2021/08/23

On Mondays, we'll be talking about "Welcome Back Mone" together! Just as Suganami Sensei and Monet-chan were getting closer, her father makes an appearance! That's no good, coming suddenly to his daughter who lives alone. This time, as expected, there were a lot of letters related to Suganami Sensei!
Let's talk about what happened last week!

Letters introduced in this section may also be introduced on Kesennuma's community FM station, "Radio Kesennuma." Letters sent to the radio may also be introduced here.
There are also apps that allow you to listen to radio stations from all over the country, so please see the last explanation for more details.

This issue's letter

My husband and I watch Monet every day. The distance between Suganami Sensei and Monet has been getting closer recently, and I can't take my eyes off him! Suganami Sensei's happy smile after inviting Monet to have some soba. And Suganami Sensei, is that his hand trying to stroke Monet's head? Ahh! Dad!! ...It was an exciting morning. (Sati)

Yes! Considering the slow pace so far, the distance between them is closing at an incredible speed. But it's still just a soba restaurant! And they only went there for about an hour. It's also nice that they're watching it together as a couple. The overwhelming majority of comments about Suganami Sensei are from women, but I'm curious to know what men think of him!

▲Oh, Dad!

First of all, when Koji's dad and Grandpa Ryuki first appeared at Shiomiyu, am I the only one who had the eye-catching jingle from "Hisasu" playing in my head when Koji's dad was there, and the background music from the movie "Jinji Naki ○ ×" playing in my head when Grandpa Ryuki was there?
Even so, both Mone and Dr. Suganami have been very conscious of each other since the "treatment" incident last week! As proof of this, Dr. Suganami has been in a "small animal glaring at by its nemesis" state since Kouji and Ryuuki showed up, while Mone is trying desperately to "calm down" so as not to cause a fuss over her relationship with Dr. Suganami... To make matters worse, Su-chan has become a spectator, which was hilarious! However, Dr. Suganami's "kind consideration" such as "invitation to the soba restaurant" and "...you too" and "...if there's anything I can do, I'll do it" when I see Mone's subtle reactions makes me think "it definitely touches my heart." All that's left now is to hope for a decisive "critical hit," but when will it come?
P.S.: Regarding the "Wakame Shampoo," I watched the recording of the "Tokyo Edition" again and it seems that it was in the back yard when Monet first visited Shiomiyu. Maybe it was an equipment? (Oysters love to be "fried"! / Totokichi)

♪ Cha-cha-cha, cha-cha-cha, cha-ra! What? My grandpa certainly had no sense of honor. He was so cool! Um... Totokichi-san, this letter... there's so much information in it that I totally agree with! Lol

I want to reply to each one of them like a business email, quoting them one by one, but to sum up, Suganami-sensei's character is at its best right now. I like the way he calls her "you". The critical hit will come soon! Well, if it doesn't come, it's fine either way, as I can enjoy the delicate relationship between these two.

P.S.: Thank you for the update on the wakame shampoo! I'm sure there are many people who are curious about that shampoo of unknown origin.

Wow, this week was packed with events. I was surprised when Suganami-sensei invited Monet-chan to a soba restaurant. But it seems like they only had inoffensive conversations at the soba restaurant. Suganami-sensei, who was stared at by her father and grandfather, looked like a frog stared at by a snake, or a criminal cornered by a veteran detective. The grandfather's oysters looked delicious - I want to eat them too!! I want to eat them in Kesennuma!! When her father said, "Please take care of my daughter," she didn't say that she wasn't her boyfriend or that they weren't dating! It was like, "That's what it is," and then she said, "If anything happens to you, Nagaura-san, I'll do what I can." That was a proposal!! I stood up! After all that, Monet-chan was appointed as the weather girl! That's right. It's good to be able to tell the news yourself. I'll check out Monet-chan's weather report too. What channel? What time does it start? (Mayuko from Nagoya)

I liked how Suganami-sensei was cornered. Nagoya's Mayuko's comment "They're both like that, aren't they?" was funny. I think it's like that. But they're both also "super insensitive and natural", so it might be like that. What channel is Monet-chan's weather forecast on? The atmosphere inside the station is like NHK, but Riko's vibe is like a commercial channel.

▲Oysters in Kesennuma!

The meeting between Koji, Dr. Suganami, and Mr. Asaoka is very exciting, but there are also some unknowns that worry me. He works hard. I can sense his jealousy towards his sister, who has a wide network of contacts both in Tome and Tokyo. It would be a nice change of pace if he went to Tokyo with Grandpa and met Su-chan and his future brother-in-law (?). You only get to be young once! I want to say this together with my mother. I hope that one day Mi-chan will relax and be able to smile again. (Mikage)

That's right... I've been getting excited about Dr. Suganami up until now, but I'm a Kesennuma fan after all... I'm really interested in Mi-chan, who continues to work hard quietly, and Ryo-chin, who seems to have the hardest family life of all the characters, these two locals.

At the very least, when Mi-chan comes to Tokyo, I want her and Monet to go to an amusement park or Harajuku together! That's what I was thinking, but today (Monday)'s broadcast! Even if her sister is doing well, it's a bit complicated... I wonder if she'll feel left out. It's the opposite position from when Mi-chan's high school was featured on TV. I want to support both of them!

The landslide in Ishioto-cho, Akeiwa City, eight years ago. "Natural disasters are a threat that cannot be prevented by human power," but the importance of evacuation and the fact that thanks to the combined efforts of the people of Ishioto-cho, no one was injured were portrayed carefully and in a way that would be understandable to everyone (watching TV) who has risked their lives for the recovery. Monet's "feelings for her hometown, Kamejima" were also carefully expressed, and it was an episode that made us think about "life" and "hometown." Perhaps Dr. Suganami was also about to give Monet a warm "pickup" on her back. However, he was unable to do so when Monet's father showed up. Will the story unfold in a way that Monet introduces Dr. Suganami to her father and he accepts their relationship? (Umakkoyama)

Thank you for your letter, Makkoyama-san! This episode made me feel the various thoughts of the people who live in the area and the kindness conveyed by human hands. Perhaps Suganami-sensei and Monet are not yet at the stage of "dating"? Is that day approaching? I wonder what will happen.

The things depicted in this drama are perfectly synchronized with what is currently happening. This week, areas hit by mudslides will be hit again, just like when the typhoon made landfall off the Pacific coast of Tohoku. In reality, Western Japan is experiencing similar mudslides and floods this year. A suspicious character (lol), also known as Mone's dad, visits Asaoka's company, who is heartbroken by the repeated disasters. He talks to Asaoka's newscaster, Asaoka's dad, about the meaning of living in and leaving the land, about the love and curse of the people who have lived there for generations. And when he sees Mone working freely and happily, he says that her children's future is bright. How much these words saved Asaoka and Mone. It will be exciting to see Mone's live newscaster make up her mind. By the way, Jun-san, who casually holds back Mone who was about to jump out, made a nice follow-up (lol) (Yoshinobu)

As you say, there were many things that linked to the real world. This summer, we were hit by a lot of heavy rain, and disasters felt like something close to home, not something that only happened to other people. For a child, knowing that there are adults who tell them that the future is bright is probably the best encouragement. It was as if they were speaking to not only Monet, but all of her classmates too! But, it's true, when the father showed up at Weather Experts headquarters, he looked suspicious lol.

It's been a while since I last wrote to you. I'm still hooked on Welcome Back Mone. I still watch it three times a day, both live and on tape. I think I haven't been this hooked on a morning drama since "Honmamon" 3 years ago. Come to think of it, Honmamon is also a modern drama, not set in the Showa era with a repetitive child actor, just like Welcome Back Mone. Anyway, there are a ton of things I want to talk about, but this week I was intrigued by Monet's grandmother, who was reincarnated as a tree. Before the serialization began, I remembered what Takeshita Keiko said, "This could be my masterpiece." Monet is always moving, and there may be some surprising and moving episodes in the grandmother's fate. Until next time! (Michael J. Kanematsu)

Wow, Michael J. Kanematsu, three times a day. What a sharp point! Actually, I just read this letter and thought, but the theme of "circulation" from the sea to the mountains and back again to the sea runs through the story. So I suddenly thought that maybe the grandmother embodies that theme. Keep an eye on the grandmother!

▲Current Grandmother

Good job, Koji, for buying a new TV!! I totally understand that feeling. I accidentally bought an 8K to watch Monet. And then I discovered J-Tele! It's a road I always walk down at night, so I didn't notice it when it was on TV, but when I walked by during the day, I saw it! I was so happy when I found it that I wanted to wait outside. Good luck, Nagaura, the live anchor! It seems that Mi-chan will also be coming to Tokyo next week, so I can't take my eyes off her. (Ape and Pene)

Ahahahaha. As with Ape and Pene, isn't the timing of Koji buying a new TV the most Kesennuma-like? (I accept disagreements) By the way, "Okaeri Mone" is broadcast in 4K! But Ape and Pene are so cool for buying an 8K TV. I'm so jealous of them for discovering J-TV! Kesennuma is also a setting, so please come and visit us when things have settled down.

That concludes the 15th episode!

This week, we will be sending you "Mone's Souvenirs of the Heart." Various licensed products featuring the official logo of the drama and Kesennuma's local specialties are now on sale!
It's also recommended as a souvenir. For more information, please see the link.

(I really want to send you all something, but I've decided to send you "heart" gifts just to show my appreciation. Sorry...)

Thank you so much to everyone who sent in letters!
It seems like things are going well in both love and work! Something is bound to happen at times like these... I hope that Suganami-sensei and Monet don't get photographed by a weekly magazine!

We look forward to receiving your enthusiastic letters from across the city, prefecture, and country!
