Let's talk about "Welcome Back Mone" together! 17th

Letters Corner 2021/09/06

On Mondays, we have a corner where we all talk about "Welcome Back Mone"! Mr. Suganami did it. We've received so many letters! Let's get started by talking about last week's content!

Letters introduced in this section may also be introduced on Kesennuma's community FM station, "Radio Kesennuma." Letters sent to the radio may also be introduced here.
There are also apps that allow you to listen to radio stations from all over the country, so please see the last explanation for more details.

This issue's letter

I love Kiyohara Kaya and have been watching every episode since the first one. Each actor's expression is so detailed that I watch the recording over and over again, discovering something new each time. This is the first time I've been so hooked on a morning drama! I find myself thinking about the characters even in my everyday life, carrying my feelings for them with me as if they were people I'm living with now. Su-chan is looking great these days! She's become an important presence that doesn't get too muddy. This is a drama that makes you want to talk about it with someone! (Pyon)

Thank you, Pyon-san. When I watch it over and over again, I notice things like, "This is the contrast here...!" or "So that's what it meant." That's why it's a drama I want to talk about! (I'm glad to hear from you!)
Sue-chan has become really popular among my friends recently!

▲Sue-chan is the mood maker.

I posted this before I watched it on Friday! Because the new cast members for the third part [Kesennuma Edition] have been officially announced!! (Happy) I can't contain my expectations for these two Miyagi natives! So, I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I'd like to ask this, but it seems that you updated the cast introductions in "Mone Diary" before the main program aired, but could you do the same this time, calling it an "extra edition" or "special edition"? I wonder if that's possible... (Totokichi)

Thank you Totokichi-san. New performers for Part 3 have been announced! They're here!

I'm happy to be able to hear Yama-chan (Yamadera Koichi)'s native Miyagi dialect.
I would like to continue introducing the performers on this website as I did before! I will definitely do so when I have the time.
(PS: Thank you for always proofreading my work without me even noticing.)

I am writing this after watching the broadcast on September 9st. The content was appropriate for Disaster Prevention Day. There have been many times in the past when I felt that Adachi-sensei was composing the script while considering the broadcast date, and today I was reminded of how amazing he is. Up until now, the story has focused on Ryo's suffering, but as Uchida-kun said, there is no one who is not hurt.
Misao also saw the work being done at the temple at the time of the earthquake and was hesitant to make up his mind because of the weight of it all... but from now on you can make as many modifications as you want! Misao enthusiastically took Ryo's hand and said, "I'm sure you'll become a good monk."
And Su-chan. To be honest, I didn't really like Su-chan. But since last week, when I saw Su-chan admonishing Mi-chan, I realized that she had also been feeling sad about Monet all this time, but was still acting all excited so as not to break the circle of childhood friends. I felt her strength and kindness in overcoming her conflicts. I'm sorry Su-chan, and thank you Su-chan!! I can't help but love the Kesennuma people who live their lives honestly. But what will happen from next week? I want more people from Kesennuma to appear! (Saiun)

That's right, as Saiun said, the timing of things like the Paralympics and typhoons are linked to reality.
I feel like the characters of the childhood friends have been polished again. Last week in particular, I thought "Thank you, Sue-chan" many times! So far, he hasn't had many scenes, but I'm hoping that Yuto will have a chance to shine in the future.
Also, I was really moved by the UFO scene. I'm now a Mitsuo fan.

Monet's childhood friends gathered at Shiomiyu. The good thing about childhood friends is that they understand each other without you having to say the whole story. I think Misao will become a good monk who is loved by the people of Kamejima. Right now I'm most worried about Ryochin, but this was an opportunity for all six of them to hear about his "stories and thoughts immediately after the earthquake," something he hasn't been able to talk about until now. We could also feel his feelings for his "hometown, Kamejima." I hope that things will develop so that everyone can feel happy in the next 10, 20, 30 years, and so that the people who live on Kamejima can feel happy too. Everyone who watches TV knows "Kamejima." I hope that the drama will win the buzzword of the year award... (Umakkoyama)

Wow, I really think Mitsuo will become a good monk. I don't think all the fog has cleared yet, but I'm glad I was able to talk about things that everyone else couldn't talk about... Yes, but as for buzzwords... I don't think there are many killer phrases or punch lines, so it might be difficult. No one is asking for it, but I'll announce my personal Monet Buzzword of the Year at the end of the program...

Mi-chan and Ryo-chin have always been good kids. This week they were finally able to let off some steam. The childhood friends got together for the first time in a while to talk about UFOs. Even though everyone was gathered in a circle, Mi-chan sat a little away by herself. It was heartbreaking to see that not only Ryo-chin but everyone else treated her as "Monet's little sister Mi-chan." I wish Mi-chan had friends who could join in a circle like that. (Iwashi Babaa)

I just read the comment by Iwashi Baba-san (what a great pen name), and I was like, "I see!"
Last week was a pretty rough week for Mi-chan, so I was worried that there might have been a lot of negative reactions towards her. But as you know if you've been watching from the beginning, Mi-chan is a really nice girl. So I'd like you to take that as a way for me to "let off some steam"!
She was such a good girl, almost too good... I wish Mi-chan had another friend she could talk to about anything.

This is my first letter. The confession of the two on Friday was wonderful. They never said the words "I love you," but they conveyed their feelings for each other, and it was a scene that felt like a miracle had descended upon us. I hope the drama will be like this. Suganami-sensei speaks from her own perspective, so to those around her she may seem eccentric or roundabout, but she is honest with her feelings, and I want to be a bit more careful with what I say. I was a bit worried after seeing the preview for next week, but I hope the two continue on. (Yoshi)

Yes! "Even though there is no word 'love'"!! That's right! This expression is used even though there is no word 'love'!
"I don't understand, but I want to understand." This was wonderful. I think it's a completely positive statement. I want to imitate this statement. I want to use it with adolescent children and between generations with a generation gap.

I usually cry three times a day (omitted). This week was also tough because I was exhausted every day before going to work. This week, I was moved by various characters and I'm a mess inside. This week, I'm imagining Michael again, but I've been imagining things since about the 3th week, and I imagine Monet and Monet's dad playing music for Tom, who is weak and in vain under Dr. Suganami's care, at the Tome clinic. I imagine Monet's dad telling Monet that music can help people. I imagine a scene where both Monet's dad and Monet are saved by music, and Michael's tears start to build up. Today is Saturday, a boring weekend, but I guess tears will go to sleep until Monday. See you again. (Michael J. Kanematsu)

I like the phrase "This week I'm going crazy with Michael Jackson." It made me laugh.
But your imagination is amazing. Because, so far, the theme of "music" hasn't come up since Tom.
The way he connects all of these things is typical of Michael's imagination! Let's keep up the good work this week too.

This week's subtitle is, "Wagae Stazu"... No, it's "Young People". (sweats) 1. I was impressed by Sayaka's thoughts of "Let's live coolly until the end." While I hope this message reaches the "young people," I think Monet, who said Sayaka's life was "cool" when he was in Tome, was the one who influenced him the most. When he was told about the "Hiba Tree," he said, "There's no need to rush, it's okay to take it slowly." It seems to embody Monet's current state. (This is my personal opinion...) 2. It's finally here, Monet and Suganami-sensei's "critical hit"!! I was so overjoyed that instead of cooking red rice, breaking a kusudama, or putting eyes on a daruma doll, I launched a celebratory gun shot of the (heart's) "two-shaku ball"! (lol) 3. The "Zunda Mochi" that Yuto and Mio bought, as someone from the north of the prefecture where mochi culture is thriving, I thought, "That didn't look like Zunda Mochi." Unfortunately... (sad) ("Zunda Mochi" is best when it's "homemade"! / Totokichi)

A two-foot ball of the heart!! Wahahahaha! Awesome! Cheers to the critical hit!
It's true that Monet is definitely influenced by Sayaka-san, so she might turn blonde in the future... No, well, maybe not... But even so, Sayaka-san was really cool last week!
I also found myself thinking "Is Zunda Mochi really like this...?" haha.

Since I started my private tutoring in Tome, I gradually fell in love with Suganami and before I knew it, I was completely engrossed. Now, there are days when I watch it about five times a day. On Friday, I finally got to see Suganami Sensei and Monet!!!
But then, after watching it a few times, I realized that Dr. Suganami was going to the laundromat with the intention of withdrawing from his relationship as a lover. Even though Su-chan had reassured him, he took Michi's words literally and, considering that Mone rushed to Ryo-chin's side, he gave up on his feelings. But (as a friend) he wants to be someone who can accept the feelings Mone has. If you think about it that way, it makes sense that he decided to quit the university hospital and move to Tome without consulting Mone, and that he only talked about the move after Mone tried to stop him. And maybe Mone sensed that the doctor must have misunderstood their relationship, so she went out of her way to tell him that she "couldn't respond to his feelings"? Until I realized that Dr. Suganami was planning to withdraw, the "What's wrong?" sounded like a cunning line, asking knowing the answer, so I felt like "I'm sorry, Dr. Suganami." I think we'll be able to see the rest of this scene on Monday (they haven't confessed clearly yet!), so I'm looking forward to it. (Chinasuke)

Wow, isn't that amazing? Chinasuke's theory. I see! I thought to myself. I like how he focused on the fact that "the decision was made without consulting Monet." That might be it.
So, today is Monday, but in the end, everything went smoothly for the two of them, and I didn't know what they were thinking at the time. I thought I might watch last week's broadcast again. Thank you!

I really love how Ryochin conveys emotion with his eyes and mouth. Going back a long way, when Shinji went out on a boat at Koji's request during a typhoon, and when Koji was showing Shinji a video of Monet and he was listening to the exchange between them about whether she had a boyfriend or not, Ryochin conveys a lot of emotion with just his eyes and mouth, even though he doesn't say any lines. Amazing! (KeMama)

Nice point, Ke-mama! There are many scenes where Ryo-chin's emotions are conveyed even without lines! In the two scenes you mentioned, Ryo-chin's facial expressions were certainly good. But I didn't get the "You get it, don't you?" line at first. I'm so embarrassed...

▲I didn't understand.

I remember in my early 20s, when I found out that a good friend I could talk to about anything had gotten a girlfriend, and I felt so lonely, like I'd been betrayed, like he was becoming a different person, like he was going far away. Ryo-chin may have been looking for a motherly side in Monet, who was always concerned about him and understood his feelings. Maybe he wanted her to hold him tight and comfort him. But that would be dishonest, Mi-chan. I'm glad that Suganami-sensei accepted Monet. And Ryo-chin has someone who will accept him tightly too! She's close by! A girl who is like a little sister to him is surprisingly watching out for him! Please notice!! (Nagoya no Mayuko)

Ah! That's right!
Actually, Ryochin never said "I love you" to Monet clearly, so there are theories that "Monet didn't take it as affection, but was looking for a motherly love." There is also the theory that "I love him, but I can't say it (I'm afraid to say it)." I don't know his feelings, but I want to understand them...
Either way, I hope you'll be able to let your mind flow without those kinds of constraints.

When Suganami-sensei said he was moving to Tome, Monet immediately grabbed Suganami-sensei's arm, and Suganami-sensei embraced Monet. Both of them are people who think carefully and act carefully on what they can do, so love is impulsive and emotional. And when Ryo-chin, who has had enough of everything, suddenly comes to Tokyo, confesses his feelings to Monet, only to be rejected and go home, I felt like I was once again shown how cruel it can be when love doesn't bear fruit. I've always been the latter, so my wounds sting. Maybe I should take this opportunity to recruit some friends under the hashtag "Our Ryo-chin" (bitter smile) (Yoshinobu)

Haha... Love is impulsive and emotional! I thought so. The two of them who were slow to get along got closer so quickly.
Well, as I wrote earlier, I don't think Ryochin has said (or can say) the words "I love you." So, I don't know if the other person will be Monet in the future, but first of all, I hope that Ryochin will be in a state of mind where he can say "I love you" from the bottom of his heart.
Also, I am in the latter category, so please include me in the "#OurRyochin" group.

About Ryo-chin, and the words Mi-chan had said to her... Mone, who is ``righteous but cold'' sincerity, let it sink into the bottomless swamp deep in her heart, and wondered if she would have to carry it alone for the rest of her life, but then someone reached out and pulled her out, and those words, ``What's wrong?'', were what helped her.
I'm really glad that Monet and Dr. Suganami were able to realize the miracle that Su-chan was talking about. But. when I think about Ryo-chin. I can't help but think, "Someday, someone!" Ah, I can't put it into words. My heart was captured and shaken, and I was really thinking about "Welcome back, Monet" all week. (Moto)

Yeah yeah. I get it. I get it.
My Monet diary last week required some effort to piece together some disjointed words. It was difficult.
As I wrote in my diary, the situation Ryo-chin is in is caused by the earthquake disaster, so it is an unreasonable one to begin with... That's why I think that what's needed is not just righteousness, but kindness, or something like love!

It's been a tough week. Actually, I've been feeling emotional ever since last week. Everyone's feelings... My husband was worried about Grandpa, saying, "Grandpa's home alone now. I wonder how he's doing," and at the end he called him at home. I think the words that Monet spoke to Dr. Suganami as she held his hand were words that overflowed from her heart. But Ryochin said, "That's okay." The love story suddenly struck a chord with me too! (Sati)

That's good, the "♪chaka chaan" sound is here too! No, it's like that "it doesn't matter if it's a lie"! "I don't want to die" kind of thing! I'm weak to forcefulness... Do you understand?
Just when I was wondering what Tatsumi was doing, a scene of him and Sayaka talking on the phone as an adult duo pops up. "Okaeri Mone" has that kind of thing going on. It's a thorough drama.

(Friday's story) Has there ever been a morning drama where a hug alone made you go 'kuuu'? Even though they've only gone to the soba restaurant so far! I can somehow understand how Natsume Soseki felt when he translated 'I love you' as 'The moon is beautiful, isn't it?' The newbie who is obsessed with Monet is so mad he collapses face down on his desk. The mobile phone screen he showed me, saying 'This is how I feel right now,' showed a scene of the forestry association in joy at Monet's first appearance on Asa Kira. I can't wait to make a pilgrimage to Kesennuma. (Ape and Pene)

Ape and Pene's letter made me laugh again.
The phrase that seems likely to win the contest for most sincere words to replace "I love you" is "I don't understand, but I want to understand (appearing for the second time today)."
The new guy's growth is remarkable! "This is how I feel right now" is a line that could only be a confession, but he's just talking about a TV drama with his boss, right?
I want these newbies to enjoy the Kesennuma pilgrimage! I want to see them get excited there too.

▲ I recommend the stamp rally

The story unfolded more rapidly than I expected, and I admire the scriptwriter! Various scenes were linked together, and I was completely engrossed by the fact that so much had happened in just a little over a day. I thought there might be a plot where Monet would realize that she really loved Ryo-chin, but then it all ended with Suganami-sensei, which was very comforting in its own way. It was also clever that there were both scenes with Ryo-chin and Suganami-sensei at the same laundromat. (Pyon)

Thank you so much for all your letters, Pyon-san.
That's right, the contrast between Ryo-chin and Suganami-sensei at the laundromat was amazing (in terms of direction and scriptwriting)!
Even so, there's just too much going on in this laundromat, isn't there? Are there people who want to use it but are shyly hiding away?

What made the biggest impression on me was the scene where the childhood friends, who were junior high school students at the time of the disaster, uttered the line by Sansei: "You can even call it a UFO." Five years later, they talk about the feelings they hadn't been able to express before, and put them into words. The two parties involved put an end to their problems. Perhaps Shinji's words, "I'll talk to you when Ryo comes back," were also a sign of this end. I remember Koji saying, "I want to show him that the future is bright." I want everyone to be happy...! Having passed the halfway point, I feel that way even more, but at the same time, I don't want the drama to end. But isn't there too much happening at that laundromat? I'd like to sneak into Shiomiyu as a customer. (Tsukemonogakari)

Really! That scene with Mitsuo was great... I think it was the one that made me cry the most.
And here too, there are people who have doubts about laundromats... aren't laundromats the same thing? They're mystery spots, I think.
If you think about it, it's strange that Mitsuo suddenly started talking about UFOs. Whether you believe it or not is up to you.

Childhood image.

That concludes the 17th episode!

This week, I'll be sending you my heartfelt "Zunda Mochi". I received a letter from you, but the Zunda Mochi that appeared in the drama was a little different from what I imagined. What we imagine is the one with the soybean-colored bean paste on it! Right?
(I really want to send you all something, but I've decided to send you "heart" gifts just to show my appreciation. Sorry...)

Thank you so much to everyone who sent in letters!
Oh man, love, romance, liking... I felt the beauty of expressing feelings without using words directly, and the limits of my own understanding... Learning everyone's interpretations has made it even more fun!

We look forward to receiving your enthusiastic letters from across the city, prefecture, and country!
