Thank you for your letters every week! This final Kesennuma chapter has me thinking about so many things. This week, many people wrote in to cheer on Mi-chan and talk about Ayako-san's pain.
Now let's introduce the letters! I'm Sayumi in charge of this section.

This issue's letter

I'm curious about the theme song "Nanairo". I've had this feeling since the beginning that this is Suganami-sensei's theme. I wonder if it's a poetic summary of Suganami-sensei's thoughts and actions. After all, the first person in the lyrics is "boku" (I)! (｀･ω･)b° ✧ (Shion x Shion)

When I received this letter, I thought, "I see." Because I thought this song "Nanairo" was "Ryochin's song!"
So I listened to it again carefully. It's true... it could be a song by Professor Suganami!
And I started to feel like it was a song about Koji's dad, Shinji, or even Ryuuki's grandpa... No, no, even though it's in the first person, I feel like it's about Monet. This is amazing!

It was a week that touched me deeply with the depiction of "emotional pain, sadness, confusion, the conflict of wanting to express your feelings but not being able to" and the sympathy shown. Ryuuki, Ayako, Mi-chan, Koji, and Monet of the Monet family oyster trellis all have "heavy burdens" in their hearts. I hope that the oyster trellis can be revived with the help of everyone in the community. I hope that Nagaura Fisheries can somehow be revived. (Umakkoyama)

Last week, I cared so much about someone that I wanted to say something but couldn't, and I felt frustrated...
We decided to continue growing oysters on the remaining shelves, and even if we couldn't run a guesthouse, we would try running a cram school, and we decided to "first try what we can do."
The only one left is Mi-chan. Today she said, "I can't decide anything until things are clear with Ryo-kun." So it looks like the first thing she needs to do is to clarify things between Ryo-chin and Mi-chan. I'll be watching tomorrow with all my heart...!

When Monet's mother said that all she remembers of her late grandmother is her smiling face, her grandfather said, "Isn't that fantastic that all you can remember is her smiling face?" This was coming from a man who had traveled the world working in long-distance tuna fishing.

But! As a Kesennuma resident, I was filled with the feeling that "Please don't blame Mi-chan anymore!" I see that she is trying her best. And just as Masa-san thought, it seems that this week's goal is to "sort out her feelings for Ryo-chin". Good luck, Mi-chan!

Mom, your name popped out as soon as you saw Akari-chan's face. I guess the job of "teacher" still remains in your mind. The most painful thing is not being able to forgive yourself. The reason your mom quit her job as a teacher is because she was more worried about her family than her first-grade students and wanted to go home, and she couldn't forgive herself for that. That's only natural. It's natural to be worried about your family. I think that, but your mom was blaming herself all this time. This pain in her heart was similar to Suganami-sensei's. That's right, teachers always remember the names of the students they taught, no matter how old they get. Ayako-sensei. I wish I had a teacher like that.
Also, the mother had a wish to "work with children," so even if she couldn't run a guesthouse (foster parent), she might start with a cram school. If she couldn't do it, she'd do what she could, and I felt a surge of courage in her determination to take a steady step forward.
I also wondered if my father would quit his job as a banker and take over the oyster business. I thought there were many different futures.

There are only 3 weeks left of the drama. With a sense of sadness, here are my thoughts on the 21st week, "Secret Feelings in the Heart." There were no flashbacks, and the explanation of why she quit teaching left me thinking, "Kyoka's acting is amazing!" But at the same time, I also felt a deep sense of helplessness, thinking, "Ayako must have had a really hard time as a mother and as a teacher. She shouldn't have blamed herself so much..."
Though the situations were different, my mother and I had a similar experience to Ayako, but in the opposite position, so I found myself empathizing more than usual while watching... I felt better after hearing Ayako speak, and I'm glad that Nagaura Fisheries will continue to exist for the time being!
By the way, in my case, it's just a memory now, but my mother says that "when I think about it, tears come to my eyes," so I wonder if she still feels sorry.
Also, she said that she seriously considered marrying Koji because "she met Grandma Masayo," and even Ryuuki thought it was "fantastic" and wondered, "What a great man he must have been to Ayako!" Finally, after watching this week's episode, I rewatched the Kesennuma episode from the beginning, and when I saw Ayako's expression while reading Monet's letter, and when she asked her family "I'll be back, how's it going?", and when she returned and gazed at Monet after leaving immediately after welcoming him back home, I couldn't help but think, "Maybe she was worried about Ayako's feelings of guilt, projecting them onto her own daughter..." No, really. I thought that Ayako-san should not have blamed her so much, just like Totokichi-san said. However, before I thought "You don't need to blame her so much...", I unconsciously thought "Her family and (probably) the kids at school were all safe".
In other words, if that wasn't the case... I think Ayako would have continued to blame herself for a long time. Even if that's the case, I don't think Ayako needs to blame herself. Just imagining all the different things that could have happened about this was painful... I think it was a particularly deep and memorable scene for Totokichi-san, and for those who watched it and empathized in the same way. It might be good if you could put that kind of pain into words, even just a little, and talk about it with someone.

And then there's the reincarnated Fantasista, Grandma. No, maybe "Fantastic". I thought I'd like to become a grandma like that. A grandma with a smile that everyone looks up to... well, maybe not in this life.

Dr. Suganami's words of encouragement really touched me ☆ I cried a lot on Thursday. Various stories about the realities of the aftermath of the earthquake came out, and I wonder how those directly affected feel when they watch them? "Helping," "Speaking out about pain," "Touching"... The important messages were presented in various forms, and I felt like the content became much more substantial. This week we got to see each and every member of the Nagaura family. What's next? It seems like everyone is starting to live their real lives around Monet, who has become much stronger. (Pyon)

Last week, I think there were quite a few people who said, "It reminded me of what happened to me at that time" when they heard about the emotional pain that Ayako had been carrying.
Those of you with children will surely be able to empathize... Putting your thoughts into words, and listening to what others say... It's a simple thing, but it really brought home to me how important it is.
Next up is Mi-chan! It won't be an easy road, but I want to see it through to the end.

Like Ayako, the pain that has been weighing down on your heart for years is finally being lifted a little and you can talk about it... Watching this week's "Welcome Back Mone" made me feel like I was able to experience the sense of the world expanding that Professor Suganami spoke about, even if it was an indirect way, a TV drama. I just want to say thank you to everyone in the Nagaura family for letting us hear each of their voices, and to Mone for being so kind and tenacious with them... Also, after the seventh anniversary of Masayo's death, the usual song that plays when Mone finds a light in the future was played for Mi-chan, and I thought, "Oh!" I want to put the feelings I felt this week in a suitcase and go to Kesennuma. (Moto)

Monet really "listens" to what each person is saying. It's a bit like Michael Ende's "Momo." Monet never rejects anything and always listens to the end. Ah, but she did tell Ryochin "That's not right"...
Also, I hadn't noticed the BGM at all! So I checked it out. It's true! It's that sparkly, sparkly song! My ability to express it is a bit lacking, though. I'm sure you'll understand if you listen to it.
And then, you packed all those feelings into a trunk and came to Kesennuma? Isn't that fantastic, Moto-san?
