When you visit Kesennuma as a tourist, you're likely to think, "The first meal is seafood!", but after a series of fish dishes, you'll want to try something completely different. The same goes for the locals of Kesennuma, who, after a series of fish dishes at home, will start to feel like, "Oh, I want to eat something other than fish!"
At times like these, you may want to eat ramen, right? There are many ramen restaurants in Kesennuma. In this section, we would like to introduce some of the "ramen recommended by locals."
Chinese Noodles Maruki

▲ Dried sardine soba
Chukasoba Maruki, which serves port town ramen made with plenty of dried sardines, is a popular ramen restaurant that draws a constant stream of visitors from outside the prefecture.
Before the disaster, the restaurant was a beloved restaurant among locals that served set meals and ramen as "Maruki Shokudo," but after the disaster it transformed into a ramen specialty restaurant. The restaurant's signature dish is "Niboshi Soba," made with a broth made with plenty of niboshi.
The homemade noodles are made using 100% domestic wheat and are chewy and delicious, and are served in the perfect thickness to bring out the best in each dish.

▲Back fat soy sauce
The three main dishes are currently "Niboshi soba", "Back fat soy sauce", and "Chuka soba". We also recommend trying the special chili oil toppings and pickled plum and ginger to change up the flavor.

Cafe Mambo
Founded in 26, the long-established coffee shop "Kissa Mambo" is famous for its "Strawberry Bavarian Cream" (a spring-only menu item) filled with lots of strawberries, but another signature menu item that has long been loved by locals is its clear, refreshing soy sauce ramen.
With the classic toppings of pork, spinach, seaweed, and bamboo shoots, and a light flavor, this ramen will gently envelop both your body and soul.
It's a flavor that is loved by people of all ages, and some people say that this ramen has been a big fan for three generations, including parents, children, and grandchildren. Cool sweets are the best after warming up with ramen, so be sure to save some room for bavarois, parfaits, anmitsu, and other sweets.
