Etoile Al

Arte (Truffle) 1,566 yen (tax included)

Etoi Al was founded in 1981. The restaurant serves not only cakes and sweets made with seasonal ingredients, but also authentic Western cuisine, including the popular baked confectionery "Gotto." During this season, the store is lined with chocolates in Valentine's Day boxes.

This time we will introduce "Arte (Truffle)". There are six kinds of chocolate in one box, but the one we especially recommend is "Provence". This chocolate contains orange peel, almonds, honey, and orange pulp on top. The combination of the freshness of the citrus and the sweetness of the chocolate makes it so delicious you could eat as many as you want! How about giving it as a gift together with Pulpo Royal Blend Coffee?

Briand Western Confectionery Shop

Kesennuma strawberry tart 1,188 yen (tax included)

Briand is a Western confectionery shop that sells handmade baked goods and shortcakes, but is also popular for its handmade sweet breads and savory buns. Its signature product, the cookie "Kesen Numa-chan," topped with plenty of almonds, can be shipped to any part of Japan.

One item that particularly catches the eye in the display case is the "Kesennuma Strawberry Tart." The tart is about 12-13cm in diameter, making it the perfect size for sharing. The tart is even taller than last year! The Kesennuma strawberries that wrap the tart are more than sweet enough to be enjoyed naturally. The tart is made with pie crust, and the combination of juicy strawberries, the crispy texture of the pie, and the moderately sweet fresh cream makes for an excellent combination!

This tart was developed after the disaster. It was born from the desire of the pastry chef to support Kesennuma strawberry farmers who have bounced back after being damaged by the tsunami. Please try this sweet made with the feelings of the producers and pastry chefs who work hard in this town!

Chocolate 160-200 yen (tax included)

Island has been making sweets for over 20 years with the desire to "make the people you care about smile" and "make them feel a little happiness." The shop has a cute atmosphere, from the exterior to the interior.

At this time of year, we especially recommend "chocolate" and "macarons." There is a wide variety of chocolates, with over 15 varieties available, ranging from adorable ones that women will love to chic ones for adults. When you open the box, it's like a jewelry box! Macarons are a Western-style sweet popular with women and children. They are characterized by their slightly plump shape and pop, vibrant colors. There are also over 10 varieties, so it's a great idea to buy some as souvenirs to share with everyone.

All the products are handmade by the chef. You can see the chef working from the small window behind the counter. The staff will kindly give you advice, so you can enjoy choosing combinations while looking at the chocolates and macarons lined up in the display case.

Designed to resemble the earth, each chocolate is handmade and has a different look, making it captivating to look at. It brings to mind the sea of the port town of Kesennuma. The pleasant aroma of sake wafts from the chocolate as it oozes out.

This chocolate was developed after a restaurant friend of mine asked me if I wanted to try making chocolate with sake. It has a slightly more mature flavor, and is perfect for pairing with alcohol.
