Heavenly Flag Festival

The Tenki Festival is held in honor of Kesennuma's traditional "Sunrise Kite" tradition, and features demonstrations by masters, kite-flying instruction, kite-flying stunts, and competitions.

(Write your gratitude to your parents, and your wishes and hopes for your children on a kite and fly it.)
Free kite flying
(Kites are judged and awarded based on factors such as the design of the kite painting, stability, and height.)
- Demonstration kite flying by kite masters from various regions
- Flying multiple kites in a row and flying large sunrise kites in 12-tatami and 6-tatami mat rooms.
