swordfish
Fatty swordfish is a signature winter delicacy in Kesennuma. It's tender whether served as steak, stewed, or fried, and its melt-in-your-mouth texture can be enjoyed as sashimi. Swordfish harmonica, which also appeared in the film "Sunset Sunrise," is a delicacy that's currently in the spotlight. It's in season from October to March, so be sure to try it while you're there!
Shark fin
Kesennuma is known for its shark fin, which is one of the best shark fin production areas in Japan. It can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, including whole simmered dishes, soups, ramen, and shark fin rice bowls. It's a luxurious and warming dish perfect for the cold winter.
