Shigeya Yamamoto Exhibition "365 Small Landscape Paintings of Kesennuma"

Events 2026/05/08

An exhibition will be held showcasing 365 landscape paintings of Kesennuma, created daily by illustrator Shigeya Yamamoto, who moved to Kesennuma. This will be the third year the exhibition has been held.

Comment from Yamamoto

I started drawing a picture of the scenery around my town, one postcard-sized picture each day, about 23 years ago.
I started this back in 2003 when I was living in Tokyo. After that, I moved to Sendai and then Kesennuma, and continued to do so.
This is a lifelong project that I continue to work on. It's been almost three years since I moved to Kesennuma. I spend a year drawing and creating these works.
This solo exhibition is the third to be held in Kesennuma. The exhibition features works depicting the seasonal landscapes of Kesennuma as seen through the eyes of Shigeo Yamamoto.
